Talent/High Talent Education has long been a controversial issue
If you pay attention to the fairness of such advanced math courses, this is also a good thing, and this is what the school should pay attention to. But you have no reason to say that you cannot focus on these two things at the same time. The important thing is to allow some students to learn more with equal opportunities to lay the foundation for future success, so that they can take more advanced courses.
But at the same time, other student needs should also receive teaching services, including advanced courses. I don’t want to see gifted/talented education being opposed to fairness in schools, because I think different students need a variety of teaching services. Our school should provide advanced mathematics courses and provide support to other students so that they can also take such courses.
Another problem related to the lack of changes in the American school system is that people have a wrong understanding of gifted/talented education. In particular, some people think that gifted/excellent education programs are aimed at the white middle class. Such education programs belong to the elite, and they maintain the inequality of education programs. If this kind of project is not implemented well, it is difficult to join, and there are wrong restrictions. People's above-mentioned worries are sometimes in line with the best age to start guitar lessons.
Many manpower plans to solve the problem of gifted/talented education programs are to allow more students to have the opportunity to participate in such programs, so that the recognized services of the talented students are more fair. Although there is a certain degree of truth in the belief that most of the gifted/talented students are Asian and white, this does not mean that gifted/talented education should be abolished. Such education is still an important educational service. But we need to make changes to ensure that all students have the same opportunity to participate in such education.
